The American Actor, environmentalist, and animal rights activists have been on our screens since he was 8-years-old. The vegan star is widely known for standing up for animal rights. To spread awareness about animal abuse and to promote veganism, the actor has collaborated with many organizations. Phoenix is a member of the animal organization known as Defense of Animals and PETA and has worked for both of them.

Animal legal defense Fund:
The American charity organization, Animal Legal Defense organization (ALDF) is to support animal protection legislation, provide resources, and train prosecutors in their fight against animal cruelty. The vegan actor has partnered up with this animal organization for its “Report Animal Ag” which provides an initiative for industrial animal agriculture workers to report abuse situations. It is a whistleblower platform that urges the meat business folks working within to anonymously report acts of cruelty they witness at the offices and expose merciless therapies.
Due to the Covid-19 Outbreak:
The global pandemic of Covid-19 had caused the slaughterhouses to shut down. However, on the 28th of April, President Donald Trump passed an order to open slaughterhouses again. The coronavirus has sickened workers with circumstances of Covid-19 within meat businesses rising dramatically. Many employees have tested positive for this fatal virus causing more than 20 deaths in the slaughterhouses. Due to such circumstances, animal cruelty, improper disposal of animals, and labor security violations is increasing rapidly.
Joaquin Phoenix shared in a media launch that, “Slaughterhouses as Covid-19 regardless of animal farm trade disregard for security, a surge of whistleblowers below persistent threats from employers- critical data on mass killing and disposal practices of animals are coming ahead which have critical environmental results.”
He further stated that “Workers are putting their lives at risk for corporate bottom lines. We want them to know that they can report illegal or dangerous conditions anonymously and we will take appropriate actions.”
Featuring the Oscar award winner and vegan activist, Joaquin Phoenix, LA Animal Save and Animal Alliance Network just launched bench BILLBOARD ads and posted photos of the new campaign on its INSTAGRAM account, raising awareness on this critical issue. The billboard features two images of Joaquin with the message, “Save Animals, Go Vegan”.
Two more Pig Vigil ads, in front of the Black Car Bar in Silver Lake neighborhood of Los Angeles with the messages that include, “Choose kindness, Go Vegan” is located.
On Sunday, The LA Animal Save holds its Vigils from 7 to 9 pm while the Animal Alliance Network holds its weekly vigils from 8 to 11 pm.
Phoenix’s step towards being a vegan:
The Hit movie “Joker” actor, Joaquin Phoenix has received numerous awards for his films however his movements towards animal rescuing is remarkable as the activist stated in an interview that, “I’ve been vegan since 3 years and at that age, I and my siblings witnessed fish being killed in a really violent and aggressive way and it was absolutely obvious that was something we didn’t want to participate in.”
