Early Life
He was born in Brooklyn, New York City on September 8, 1941. His father emigrated from Austria, Hungary in 1921; and worked as a paint salesman in the United States. Bernie’s mother Dorothy was born in New York City, they raised Bernie in Jewish faith. He got his early education from James Madison High School, where he was captain of the track team.
