An Air India Express plane crashed after skidding off the runway and breaking into two at Kozhikode Calicut International Airport. The plane was coming from Dubai when it met with the tragic accident and shocked the entire nation.
The plane was carrying at least 190 passengers out of which 18 people died in the crash, including the two plane pilots and 30 people are under serious treatment while the other passengers are injured.
The flight number IX-344 overshot the landing runway in the rainy conditions. Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri told that the plane “went down 35 feet into the slope before breaking into two pieces.”
According to a statement by Air India Express,
“There are 174 passengers, 10 infants, 2 pilots, 4 cabin-crew on board the aircraft. No fire reported at the time of landing and the flight’s four crew members is confirmed safe.”
