The Chiefs and Superbowl made a 10-year contract extension with the football player, Patrick Lavon Mahomes, that will hitch him with Kansas City for the next 10 years, till 2031. The news was made official on Monday, the 6th of July. The American football player is the only player who became a quarterback in the history to throw over 5,000 yards in college and NATIONAL FOOTBALL LEAGUE(NFL).
He was the youngest player who became quarterback and was named the NFL MVP in the year 2018 for leading the 50 touchdown passes in a league at the beginning of the season. According to ESPN’s reporter, Adam Schefter, the inside sources told that the contract was worth $450 million that could increase up to $503 million over the span of 10 years.
Furthermore, Schefter reported that Mahomes is fully free to back out anytime if the contract points are not followed religiously according to the agreement.

Chairman, Clark Hunt made a very strong statement about the football player which stated that “Since he joined the Chiefs just a few years ago, Patrick has developed into one of the most productive players in all of the sports community,”.
The Chiefs believe in the quarterback player, Mahomes, a lot since he was the one who guided the team in winning their first championship, after the longest period of 50 years.
The chairman further said that ‘because of his outstanding performance throughout the season along with his mesmerizing personality, he became one of the most popular players, who’s well respected and loved by the people. He said, Mahomes is a great influence on the people of Kansas City and that he’s proud to have him as a member of Chiefs for the next 12 seasons’.

Chris Cabbot posted a picture of Mahomes signing the contract alongside with the caption saying, ‘this is the biggest deal that has happened in the history of sports and Patrick Mahomes is the highest-paid NFL player’.
The Chiefs selected Mahomes for the season 2021 in April and made a contract that tied him for the next 2 seasons. Mahomes was left with 2 years according to the contract and was given $2.8 million in the year 2020 and $24.8 million in the coming year, 2021.
The first 3 years of the contract will provide Mahomes with a bonus of $83 million, from the year 2021-2023($21.7 million in ’21, $27.4 million in ’22, $34 million-plus in ’23). A $25 million is added by the Chiefs in the contract, that the player will receive in the span of the next 10 years.
Also, according to a source, the player will be awarded $1.25 million on winning the AFC championship and $1.25 million for the NFL MVP victory.
