Harry Kane latest news

The English striker Harry Kane, after 11 years at his boyhood club, has finally voiced his desire to leave Tottenham Hotspur. The 27-year-old star striker wants his future sorted out before he heads to the European Championships with England this summer.

It was reported that Manchester United, Man City, and Chelsea have been in touch with the English footballer’s representatives expressing their desire to sign Harry Kane for their club.

Harry Kane has told the Tottenham Club that he wants to leave:

According to sources close to the 27-year-old, Kane has told the Tottenham Hotspurs that he wants to leave this summer.

Spurs are making some inquiries now about the replacement center-forwards, in the first indication that the Tottenham Hotspurs are willing to consider the feelings of their star striker. It’s reasonable how the club doesn’t want to sell their prized asset, but Man City, Manchester United, and Chelsea are already in touch with Harry Kane’s representatives CK66, expressing their desire to sign contracts with him.

Kane has also expressed that his preference is to remain in the Premier League and wants to have his future resolved before he turns out for England at this summer’s European Championships in June 2021.

The 27-year-old striker has made no secret in his recent interviews where he told the reporters that he wants to compete for Europe’s top team trophies, after having found them out of his grasp at both the White Hart Lane and the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

The Spurs even persuaded Harry Kane to delay his plans to leave last summer, after player Jose Mourinho had replaced Mauricio Pochettico earlier in the 2019-20 season.

Sky Sports News reported that:

A Tottenham Hotspurs spokesperson told Sky Sports News that, they had a season to finish and they want to finish it as strongly as possible and how that’s the only thing everybody should be focusing on right now. Last year, Sky Sports News reported that Manchester United are not expected to target another center-forward this summer season after they re-signed Edinson Cavani, preferring to just focus on strengthening at the center-back and central midfield, during the expectation that obtaining the English striker Harry Kane will be too difficult and that Erling Haaland will just stay at Dortmund.

Meanwhile, Man City also seems to have Romelu Lukaku, Danny Ings, and now Harry Kane on their list as they look to replace Sergio Aguero. Chelsea has also been in touch with Haaland, Lukaku, and now Harry Kane for their club.

What is Kane’s contract situation?

Harry Kane signed his current contract with Tottenham Hotspurs ahead of the 2018 World Cup. It was a deal that tied up Kane with Spurs until 2024.

Now, the Spurs have just finished third in the Premier League and have also reached the semi-finals of the FA Cup under the club’s former boss Mauricio Pochettino. Kane had impressively scored 30 Premier League goals when he put his pen to paper.

‘I’m looking forward to the future, Harry Kane told the reporters after he made the six-year commitment. He further said that it has been fantastic to consistently get into the Champions League along with the club and told that they are looking forward to going as far as they can.

Harry Kane

Harry Kane was recently named as Premier League Player of the Year at the 2021 London Football Awards. However, the English striker still expressed his desire to win a ‘team trophy’ rather than just winning the individual accolades, with the Tottenham Hotspurs having fallen short in Carabao Cup earlier this season.

Kane said, ‘…the goal right now as a player is to win the team trophies.’

Due to the 3 years still to run on his contract with the Spurs, it won’t be cheap or easy for any buying club to pries him out of the Tottenham Hotspurs.

How much would Kane cost, and would Daniel Levy sell him?

So, how much would it cost to sign a player of such high caliber as Harry Kane? This question is a tricky one to answer and even harder during the ongoing global pandemic that has resulted in lower football finances across the world. But, one thing is for sure that it will be a number which senior figures at major clubs in Europe will be weighing up.

Paris Saint-Germain signed two of the world’s most expensive players, Neymar and Kylian Mbappe, for approximately 198M and 163M euros respectively. Will the clubs be able to shell out a figure of 150 M euros this summer, given the financial hit all the football clubs have taken since the emergence of the covid-19 pandemic?

It all seems unlikely, and while Harry Kane seems to guarantee the clubs a lot of goals, they know that buying him at the age of 28 has given them a little chance of making the profit at the other end of the deal, with his sell-on value that’ll probably reduce with his age.

Domestically, Manchester United and Chelsea have clearly shown that they are both prepared to invest some big numbers even in the current environment. Man City and Liverpool also seem to need strengthening in the area of a central striker, even though they have tried to downplay how much their clubs could spend in the upcoming window.

In terms of the foreign football clubs, Real Madrid and Barcelona have quite some history of attracting Premier League Stars. However, the financial status of both the clubs now isn’t as commanding as it once was, while the standard of their play has also dropped in recent seasons.

The Tottenham Hotspurs have always insisted Kane is not for sale and it is very hard for us to imagine the relationship between the Spurs hierarchy and their star striker deteriorating if the two start to pull in different directions but if Harry Kane does express a desire to leave the club this summer, Levy is unlikely to make that exit an easy one for the buyer clubs that would swoop in for Kane.
