MS DHONI:

Mahendra Singh Dhoni, 39, born on July 7, 1981, in Ranchi, India, is one of the legends of the Indian cricket team. He’s a former Indian cricketer who won many matches and was the captain of the team for many years. Under his leadership and captaincy, the team won many matches including 2007 ICC World Twenty20, 2010 and 2016 Asia Cups, 2011 ICC Cricket World Cup, 2013 ICC Champions Trophy, and many more matches.

Dhoni faced a lot of obstacles before becoming a professional and successful cricketer. At one point, he worked as a Travelling Ticket Examiner (TTE) at Kharagpur Railway station to earn some money because he was not born in a very well of family and was the only son at the time. 

His father, Pan Singh Dhoni was a junior worker in MECON and was earning just enough to raise his kids. Mahendra has two siblings, one older sister, Jayanti Gupta, and a younger brother, Narendra Singh Dhoni. His father always wanted him to study and get a job somewhere and didn’t really like his interest in sports. Initially, when Dhoni started playing, he was not much known for his batting but was more famous for his Wicket-ship.

MS DHONI ANNOUNCED HIS RETIREMENT FROM INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION:

After investing 16 years of his life in cricket, the legend, Mahendra Singh Dhoni finally declares the news of his retirement on his Instagram account. Under his captaincy, the Indian team won many trophies like the Twenty20 title (2007), World Cup (2011), and 2013 Champions Trophy.

After giving back to back amazing performances, the player posted on his Instagram to tell his fans that he’s finally saying goodbye to the Indian cricket team and cricket in general.

The cricketer announced his departure from the International cricket on his Instagram with a caption, ‘Thanks for all the love and support my fans have given me all these years’. He further said ‘i can’t reciprocate the amount of respect you all have given me and this is the reason I did so well in all these years but now I’m finally saying goodbye to the cricket and you guys can consider me as retired from now on’.  

DHONI’S ACHIEVEMENTS:

MS Dhoni scored 11th highest score, 10,773 runs, in the history of One-day International. He played almost 350 ODI matches, 90 tests and scored 4,876 test runs, and 98 T20’s. His performance in the test matches before retiring in 2014, took the team to the top of the world rankings.

The talented cricketer captained the around 322 International matches and the team won 110 ODI matches under his powerful captaincy. Another one of his countess achievements is winning the Indian Premier League (IPL) thrice with Chennai Super Kings.

VIRAT KOHLI’S TWEET ON MS DHONI RETIRING:

A number of cricketers paid their respects to the legend and expressed their feeling about Dhoni retiring. Kohli also paid his respect to the former cricketer in his recent tweet in which he wrote, ‘One day all of us have to retire from our positions and the time for that is fixed, but seeing our legend retiring, whom I have been so close to for so long, makes me very emotional’. 

He further added, ‘You are role model, not just for me but for many and I have known you for such a long time, never have I ever met a person as humble and amazing as you. The amount of respect you have given me in these years will always remain in my heart. The whole world respects you for what you have done for them in these years. Thanks for everything, you have my respect forever!’ 

SACHIN TENDULKAR’S TWITTER POST:

Former Indian player, Sachin Tendulkar paid his respect to the legend by posting a picture on Instagram alongside a caption that stated, ‘it was a big honor to play cricket with you all these years and winning the 2011 World Cup together. You have done a lot for your country and we all are proud of you and love you for that. Best of luck for the future’.

SURESH RAINA’S ANNOUNCEMENT:

Raina, who is also one of the most amazing players of the Indian cricket team and played 78 T20s and 18 Tests. He was a part of the team when India won the 2011 World Cup. Raina made an average score of 5,615 in his career.

The player also announced his departure from the International cricket in his Instagram post right after the legend announced his retirement.

Raina paid his respects to the former player and also announced his retirement from the international cricket in his Instagram post. He wrote ‘It was an honor to play with MS Dhoni in all these years and he is proud of what he has done for the country. I have also decided to follow the footsteps of the legend and retire from the International cricket’.
