Not every appearance of Mariah Carrey on The Ellen Show was perfect as the singer recently revealed her 2008 appearance on the famous show. In the latest Vulture interview, Mariah Carey opened up how her experience on The Ellen Show almost a decade ago.

Earlier this summer, a clip of Mariah Carey’s interview with show host Ellen DeGeneres from 2008 resurfaced the internet in which she was trying to get the singer to set the record straight on whether she is pregnant or not. At the time, rumors had been circulating that the singer was pregnant following her wedding with Nick Cannon but even after Carey told her ‘don’t discuss that’, Ellen was insistent on getting the pop -star to talk by pressing her to drink champagne.

“I can’t believe you did this to me, Ellen,” Mariah said in the clip. “This is peer pressure. What Ellen is doing, this is peer pressure.”

“Let’s toast to you not being pregnant if you’re not pregnant,” Ellen responded. “Why would you toast to that” Mariah replied.

“You’re pregnant” Ellen insisted even when the singer simply said it was too early for her to be drinking.

She addressed the interview with Vulture:

Even though everyone just took the interview as funny and innocent at that time, the ‘We belong together’ singer can’t help but address her experience in an interview with Vulture published on the 31st of August.

I was extremely uncomfortable with that moment is all I can say. And I really have had a hard time grappling with the aftermath.” Mariah Carey told Vulture.

“I wasn’t ready to tell anyone because I had had a miscarriage. I don’t want to throw anyone that’s already being thrown under any proverbial bus, but I didn’t enjoy that moment.”

The singer further went on talking with the publication to suggest that there’s “an empathy that can be applied to those moments that I would have liked to have been implemented. But what am I supposed to do? It’s like (sings) ‘what are you going to do?’”

Mariah later welcomed her twins in 2011 named Monroe and Moroccan with her husband Nick Canon. However, when the singer confirmed her pregnancy in 2010, she also addressed how he has had a miscarriage two years ago. Mariah Carey has also appeared on The Ellen Show five times since the 2008 interview.

Mariah Carey’s Up-coming biography:

The ‘fantasy’ singer is opening up in ways she has never before and we are excited for her to release her highly- anticipated biography ‘The Meaning of Mariah Carey’. In the biography, the singer talks about her life, her 30- year music career, and also some headline-making topics which include her rumored fling with rapper Eminem.

Mariah Carey talked about Eminem in her latest interview with Vulture but she replied saying that she will talk about his brief relationship with the ‘Stan’ rapper in her upcoming book. While Mariah insisted that she only had a couple of talks with him, Eminem has suggested that their fling was much more serious than what she says.

There are some songs that I can sing in response to that, but I will not do it. If somebody or something didn’t pertain to the actual meaning of Mariah Carey, as is the title, then they aren’t in the book.” She told the outlet.

Ellen DeGeneres’ toxic work environment:

The clip of Mariah’s interview resurfaced after current and former employees of The Ellen Show have accused the show of having a ‘toxic work environment’. Ellen, later herself acknowledged the issue via a letter addressed to her staff members.

Hey everybody- it’s Ellen. On day one of our show, I told everyone in our first meeting that The Ellen DeGeneres Show would be a place of happiness- no one would ever raise their voice, and everyone would be treated with respect. Obviously, something has changed, and I am disappointed to learn that this has not been the case. And for that, I am sorry. Anyone who knows me knows it’s the opposite of what I believe and what I hoped for our show.”

The TV show host also wrote, “I could not have the success I’ve had without all of your contributions. My name is on the show and everything we do and I take full responsibility for that. Alongside Warner Bros, we immediately began an internal investigation and we are taking steps, together, to correct it.”

Ellen concluded her letter by saying, “I am so proud of the work we do and the fun and the joy we all help put in the world. I want everyone who makes it to love working on it. Again I’m so sorry to everyone who didn’t have that experience.”

In recent weeks, three senior producers of The Ellen Show have parted ways while Stephen ‘tWitch’ Boss has been promoted to co-executive producer.
