Prince William finally opens up about the book which revolves around Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s royal journey. And he thinks that book made him and Kate look like a villain in Prince Harry’s life.
PRINCE WILLIAM ISN’T PLEASED WITH THE BOOK
Neither Harry nor Megan shared any part in the development of this book, but Prince William thinks in another way and doesn’t seem to be much pleased about this book.
“William thinks the book is their own calculated way of controlling the story and that they took advantage of their entertainment contacts so they’d be painted in a favorable light.”
Finding Freedom is an upcoming book, which spills the beans about the details that led the royal couple to step back from their royal duties earlier this year.
Even though the book is all set to release on August 11, excerpts of the biographical novel already made it a heated topic to gossip about.
WHO ARE FINDING FREEDOM’S WRITERS?
Finding freedom is written by royal reporters Carolyn Durand (a journalist who covers the royal family for years) and Omid Scobie (serving as Royal editor for Harper’s Bazaar).
The book is believed to be based on the author’s own experience and reporting. The book also contains content from sources closest to the couple.
It was announced in a statement that the couple was not involved, but the authors seem solicitous towards Meghan and Harry.
From the rumors of coldness between the Meghan and Duchess of Cambridge to how Prince William told Harry not to rush things, this book is going to provide all the insight.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle announced their exit from the royal family back in January, less than two years of their marriage. After leaving the hefty responsibilities of the royal family, the couple resettled for a while in Canada and now settled down in Los Angeles with their 13-months son, Archie.
BROTHERLY SCUFFLING
Prince William and Harry’s relation was turning cold right after Harry met Meghan.
According to Durand and Scobie, when Harry and Meghan were dating, Prince Harry sat down with his brother to talk about his relationship.
Prince William was not much aware of Meghan; he met her a couple of times. He wanted to make sure his brother “wasn’t blindsided by lust”.
He said to Harry;
“Take as much time as you need to get to recognize this girl”
Harry got pained by the last two words “this girl” by Wiliam.
Durand and Scobie explain in one of the excerpts from their book;
“In those last two words, ‘this girl’, Harry heard the tone of snobbishness that was anathema to his approach to the world. During his 10-year career in the military, outside the royal bubble, he had learned not to make snap judgments about people based on their accent, education, ethnicity, class, or profession.
“Moreover, to remove Meghan from the equation, Harry was tired of the dynamic that had become established between him and his older brother. There had come a point when Harry no longer felt as though he needed looking after. There was a thin line between caring and condescending. Just because he commenced his life differently from his brother didn’t make it wrong.”
Even before the falling freedom, the feud between both of them was apparent.
In October 2019, Prince Harry acknowledged that certain tensions were present.
According to another source; apparently, there was a direct invitation to William and Kate to pay a visit when Harry and Meghan were living in Oxfordshire from May 2018 to March 2019. But they never visited them in all that time period.
MEGHAN FELT SHE BACKED DOWN FROM EVERYTHING FOR ROYAL FAMILY
According to the book, Meghan allegedly told a friend in March that she backed down from everything, just to have a place in the Royal family.
Even after that, she was heart wrenched to see the reports that a Royal exit was her idea.
The courtiers and some family members too accuse Meghan, but they also admit that she dedicated a lot to accomplish her spot in the royal family.
The book states in this aspect;
“As Meghan told a friend tearfully in March; I gave up my entire life for this family. I was willing to do whatever it takes. But here we are. It’s very gloomy.”
MEGHAN AND KATE DON’T HAVE ANY FEUD
According to Durand and Scobie, Meghan and Kate attended just a few events together before the 2018 wedding.
The press was extremely quick to blame that the rift between the duchesses was behind the decision of Sussexes to move to Windsor. Despite that, it was Harry who had bad blood with Prince William at that precise time.
The Duchesses merely had not much in common, but there was no feud at all.
Ms. Durand and Mr. Scobie described their relationship in their book as;
“Meghan would stand with the opinion that both of them didn’t have much in common to be friends. Their relationship hadn’t progressed much since she was in a relationship with Harry. Although Meghan might have understood Kate’s prudence to strike up a meaningful friendship, they were still not very friendly by the time she was a fellow senior working member of the royal family and the wife of Prince Harry. Flowers for her birthday were delicate, but Meghan would far rather have had Kate check in on her during the most challenging times with the press.
“But they were also not feuding with each other.”
They also shed light on a particular incident that Meghan made Kate cry during Princess Charlotte’s bride’s maid dress fitting, this is a baseless rumor.
Everyone was stressed at that moment, but both Kate and Meghan remained professional. Fitting with kids is problematic but there were no tears from anyone.
SENIOR ROYAL MEMBERS SAID RUINOUS THINGS ABOUT MEGHAN
The book also states that many royal members did not trust Meghan and doesn’t have a positive vibe about her.
When Harry was dating Meghan, one senior royal referred to Meghan as “Harry’s showgirl.”
Another one mentions she seemed to come with“a lot of baggage.”One high-ranking courtier was overheard while saying that “there is something about her which doesn’t make me trust her.”
Palace members also accuse Meghan that she was the one who hustled Harry to exit the Royal family earlier this year.
THE COUPLE FELT THEY TOOK A BACK SEAT IN ROYAL FAMILY
The book also mentions that the couple got irritated often when they felt they’ve been made inferior, even when they are part of a royal family.
“While they both respected the royal ladder, it was arduous when they wanted to focus on a project or tour. But they have to back down and are said to have waited because a senior member like Prince Charles and Prince William had a tour at the same time.”
PRINCE HARRY WAS THE ONE TO INITIALLY EXPRESS THE LOVE
The authors of the book claimed that Prince Harry expressed his love for Meghan after three months into the relationship. The book included views of Meghan’s close friend as a source in this aspect.
According to Meghan’s friend; Harry was the one to confess his love to which Meghan promptly replies “I love you too.”
“For Meghan, she was all in. Nothing could restrain her down; not even a friend who cautioned her about being in a relationship with Harry.”
Meghan reportedly left hints on social media making her relationship with Prince Harry a talk of the town at that exact time. She posted a photograph on Instagram of a Love Hearts sweet with the words “Kiss Me” alongside the caption “Love Hearts in London.” That night she and Prince Harry went on a date.
THE QUEEN AND PRINCE PHILLIPS WERE DISTRESSED AFTER THE ANNOUNCEMENT
The depiction of Queen and Prince Phillip was the courtesy of many senior royal members.
Another source added that; “Obviously family remains private and they can’t bring the family down into the public as it would be devastating for the Queen.”
The couple set up a Sussex royal website, along with an Instagram account earlier this year.
They announced their plans after Royal exit, becoming financially independent and divided time between the UK and North America.
Finding freedom describes the details of the “Sandringham summit”, which revolves around negotiations after their announcement.
The summit is attended by Prince William, The Queen herself, Prince Harry, and Meghan over the phone from Canada.
The deal was struck with the Queen which stated that; the couple will no longer use the royal titles and would not receive any public funds.
But the most devastating thing was Harry’s loss of Honorary Military appointments.
“That was obviously the toughest to bear and one that has been most devastating for Meghan to see Harry go through that, it’s the one thing that made Harry emotional.”
Prince Harry was so intent to flee the royal family that he refused the trial period after the announcement. However, the couple did not rule out the return to the Royal family, but full-scale return seems exceedingly unlikely. They have not yet fulfilled what they were seeking.
