Fawad Alam comeback after 11 years to International Test Cricket Match!

Fawad Alam who has been 34, has been selected and mentioned in Pakistan 11 for his first test since November 2009, replacing Shadab Khan in the coming 11.

Pakistan’s batsman Fawad Alam had successfully made his comeback to the test team 11 of Pakistan cricket after his exclusion from the team in November 2009.  He had been named in place of Shadab Khan to play in XI in the Southampton Test. That is the fourth test match of his career throughout.

The left-handed batsman, Fawad, had been on the 25th place of such cricketers to appear in a Test match after the wait of at least 10 years. As far as the history of Pakistan is concerned, he has become the 2nd cricketer for its comeback into Test cricket after Younas Ahmad, who played 17 years after his previous appearance in test cricket in 1987.

Richard V Isaacs tweeted about Alam’s comeback and history!

Richard V Isaacs posted on twitter on 13 August 2020, the grading list of the test matches of 2009 when Fawad played for Pakistan, had the highest batting average. He captioned the picture as “Highest batting average in the first-class cricket since December 2009 – when Fawad last played a Test for Pakistan.

Richard V Isaacs posted on twitter more about Alam as “Fawad Alam has played 111 first-class matches since his last test for Pakistan in November 2009. He has scored 7965 runs at 56.48 average with 26 100s and 33 50s”.

Freddie Wilde commenting on the comeback of Fawad and PAKvENG on twitter as;

“The last time Fawad Alam played a Test for Pakistan (in November 2009) Gordon Brown was UK Prime Minister, Italy held the football World Cup, Novak Djokovic had only one Grand Slam title (he now has 17) & Lewis Hamilton had one F1 title (he now has six). #ENGvPAK”

Fawad had a mindblowing history in National as well as international cricket!

Fawad belongs to the family having a cricket background. He is the son of famous first-class cricketer Tariq Alam who had his debut in cricket at the age of 17. He had been a consistent player in the national cricket and also played in international cricket as the U-19 World Cup. He was excluded from the national team for the International cricket about a decade ago and now he has appeared in the International Test cricket for Pakistan after the striving of 11 years.

Fawad had been ignored several times by the selectors!

Fawad earned great fame with his persistent performances in the first-class cricket, by making a double century in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy 2019 for Sindh against Southern Punjab but was not considered for the Australian series in November-December 2019 by coach Misbah-ul-Haq. However, as reported by Sarfaraz Ahmed, who had been the partner of Fawad Alam in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy 2019, he never complained about anybody ever.

Sarfaraz further said that they both made a good partnership in the match for Quaid-e-Azam Trophy 2019 with a match-saving of 278-run partnership for the fifth wicket. Pakistan’s Wicket Keeper Sarfaraz said Alam never complained to him despite getting ignored by the selector coaches on several occasions.
