AVATAR: THE LAST AIRBENDER:

The famous Netflix animated series, Avatar: The Last Airbender’s first episode was released on February 21, 2005. It was created by three American animation directors and producers, Michael Dante DiMartino, Bryan Konietzko, and Aaron Ehasz.

The show was basically based on the concept that the world is divided into four different nations. The Earth Kingdom, The Water Tribe, The Air Nomads, and the Fire Nation. In the show, each nation had a different bender who had complete control over it and had the powers to manipulate and exclude the element from their nation. Each bender has control over only one of the nations, but the Avatar, master of all has control over all four nations and elements.

The evil Fire Nation wants to get hold of all four nations, which makes the whole world and the only person who can stop this from happening is the master of all, the Avatar. But he has disappeared and now others are on the mission to find him to save the world.

The animated series got very popular among teenagers and continued to win the hearts of many. But the creators recently came up with very sad news for the fans.

THE CREATORS OF ‘AVATAR: THE LAST AIRBENDER’, ANNOUNCED THEIR DEPARTURE FROM THE SHOW:

After winning the hearts of millions by creating such an amazing show, the creators finally say goodbye to the show and announce that they will not be running the show from now onwards.

The creators, Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzki became the executive producers and showrunners of the popular animated series, Avatar: The Last Airbender, in 2018. Both of them recently announced their departure from the show in a letter, with a reason that the show was undergoing the loss of creative direction. The fans who had been impatiently waiting for the updates on the show was really sad and bummed on the news.

MICHAEL’S STATEMENT ON QUITTING THE SHOW:

In his recent statement, DiMartino addressed the fans saying, ‘Fans have been asking us to update them about their favorite Netflix action series, Avatar: The Last Airbender, but I’m finally announcing that after two years of being a part of this great show and working on it, Bryan and I are no longer a part of it as we have finally decided to leave it. So we are not the right people to be giving any updates on the show since we are no longer a part of it’.

He further said, ‘Bryan and I were invited to be a part of the show as executive producers and showrunners, in 2018. The sole purpose was to honor and retell this amazing story and we were very excited to be a part of such an amazing project. Sadly, things didn’t really work out the way we wanted them to’.

He also mentioned that ‘I felt wasn’t really in control of the creative direction of the series due to sudden change in plans and decisions that were not mutual. So it was best for me and Bryan to quit the show, but it wasn’t easy for us to do so. We wouldn’t have left the show at any cost if we were given full freedom to be creative’.

After DiMartino’s official statement, Konietzko also posted on his Instagram with a long captioned that covered the reason why they left the Netflix action series, Avatar: The Last Airbender.

In his post, he said ‘I had no problem with both, the Netflix team and the team we were working with. It had a number of understanding people, but the management team was not supportive enough, and it was impossible for me to work in such a negative and unsupportive environment’.

He further said ‘it was not just about us two not getting an opportunity to present our ideas, because Michael and I are very supportive people and open to all suggestions and ideas, but we want the same in return from others. What we wanted was something that was best for the show. However, they didn’t acknowledge our ideas and made decisions on their own. It was supposed to be teamwork but some of the members don’t understand that so it was best for us to walk away’.

The show was originally made on Nickelodeon in 2005 and won many awards on it. Later in 2018, Netflix decided to produce a live-action series of Avatar: The Last Airbender, in collaboration with its producer and invited Bryan and DiMartino to be a part of this project but due to some problems, both the creators decided to quit the series.

SPOKESPERSON COMMENTS ON THE CREATORS QUITTING THE SERIES:

The spokesperson also commented on the situation, saying that ‘they are not very happy that the two talented creators left the show but it is what it is’. He further added, ‘Bryan and Michael have always done justice to the show by giving their innovative ideas and we respect them for that and we wouldn’t pass any bad comment on them leaving the show since they have complete freedom to do so’.
He also mentioned ‘the two might have left the show but it will still remain on and we are confident in our team, as they are all very talented and have a bunch of great ideas for the series’.
