She made a happy announcement via Instagram:

On Tuesday, 25th August, Grey’s Anatomy star shared a picture of herself with the newborn in her arms in a glow-y hospital bed and it is safe to say that the picture melted our hearts. The blissed-out mother wrote in the caption that,

After what felt like a year-long third trimester…it finally happened!! Matt and I are so happy to announce the birth of our sweet BOY Lucas. Otherwise known as my little lion (shoutout to Leo’s)”

After hearing this exciting news, Camilla’s costar Giacomo Gianniotti wrote, “Welcome Lucas! Can’t wait to socially distance meet you.”

“Aww LOVE you guys! Congrats to you and fam. Can’t wait to meet the little lion.’ Actor and costar Jake Borelli added in the comments.

Camilla’s interview with PEOPLE Magazine:

The newborn child is an addition to the already family of 3. The new mom talked to People magazine and had a very candid interview regarding the birth of their baby boy.

Our family has been isolating since March (amid the coronavirus pandemic) which has come with its own challenges, but the upside is that it gave us a lot of time to be able to prepare.” She told the publication.

Once I hit 37 weeks, I was willing him to come. Our bubble feels complete now that he’s here.”

Grey’s Anatomy star also told PEOPLE Magazine how ‘Lucas’ was the only name she and her husband ever liked and topped their boy’s list name when she was pregnant.

This time, we were so convinced I was having a girl again because my morning sickness was so bad, so we were already thinking of new girls’ names. When we found out we were having a boy, we knew instantly he would be Lucas! His middle name is my husband’s (first name), Mathew.” She further told PEOPLE

She added how the Covid-19 crisis affected the pregnancy process and made it much more stressful.

“I absolutely had more daily anxiety. Not only did I have concerns over contracting COVID and what that could potentially mean for my pregnancy, but I was also worried about things like my husband not being able to be present with me during the birth.”

“It changed a lot of the experience for me this time around. One example being Matt wasn’t allowed to come to ultrasounds, so we missed out on sharing these moments together.” Camilla added.

Camilla had to ‘wear a mask in labor:

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the star had to wear a mask in labor and cried when she found out about it. She told PEOPLE Magazine that,

I completely understood the importance of wearing one, I just dreaded it. Labor is so physically exhausting I couldn’t imagine adding a mask….I was in labor 15- plus hours and so much else was happening that my mind was elsewhere.” Camilla said explaining how she ‘honestly forgot’ that she had one on the whole time.

The new mom also revealed how Alan had her back the entire time. “This time was just another example of feeling like we could lean on each other and there was unwavering support. Sometimes it was as simple as him hugging me into him and saying, ‘We got this’” She added.

The star also revealed the exciting time when they went home and toddler and Sister, Hayden met the newborn.

She would tickle my belly when I was pregnant and think she was tickling the baby. When he arrived, she was so giddy. She couldn’t stop kissing his head and saying how cute he was.” “We were relieved as you just never know with a toddler how they may react to things. The day we brought him home will always be one of my favorite memories ever.” She concluded the interview with PEOPLE.
