Riverdale stars Lili Reinhart and Cole Sprouse had reportedly split up earlier this year but neither of them gave a public statement. They both shared the love interest of Betty Cooper and Jughead Jones in the hit CW drama series Riverdale however the couple also dated in real life.
The couple had been together since 2017 but broke up a few times but never officially called it quits. However, according to a source, it was confirmed that the couple is ‘currently not together’. Apparently they were ‘in a good place when Riverdale was shut down due to the coronavirus outbreak, but they isolated separately and distance has never been a good thing for their relationship.’
Cole Sprouse shares an emotional message:
On Wednesday, August 19, the former Disney channel star finally broke his silence and shared some details about his on and off relationship with costar Lili Reinhart in an emotional Instagram post.
Cole shared that, “Lili and I initially separated in January of this year, deciding to more permanently split in March.”
Over the course of their relationship of 4 years, the couple has faced some ups and downs but they were nothing but in love as he further shared that,
“What an incredible experience I had, I’ll always feel lucky and cherish that I had a chance to fall in love. I wish her nothing but the utmost love and happiness moving forward. All I’ll say about it, anything else you hear doesn’t matter.” The 27-year-old star sweetly spoke about his ex-girlfriend who he stars opposite in the CW drama Riverdale.
He ended his message on Instagram by encouraging his fans to watch Lili’s upcoming film Chemical Hearts, which drops on Amazon this week. He wrote,
“Also her movie comes out soon! I’m sure she is just as incredible in it as everything else she does.”
Sprouse’s post comes after Lili opened up about anxiety and depression:
The duo that had first sparked rumors back in 2017 had an on-again, off-again relationship. During the recent interview of the Hustlers actress, she opened up about anxiety and depression and how she coped up with all that.
The actress told about suffering from depression which felt like ‘a black tunnel (that) was never going to end.”
She added, “I couldn’t see the light. I was like, I feel like I’m dying. It was f—king rough and there’s no other way through it than just through it. I’ve seen a lot of people when it comes to heartache and grief and breakups, and they try to get that void filled with sex, with coke, with food, with drinking (but) the void still there. I took the road less traveled and just dealt with my shit. I had to face my own pain head-on.”
The 23-year-old star also revealed some details about her split with the ex, Cole Sprouse in an interview with Refinery29.
She told, “The last couple of months have probably been the most emotional few months of my entire life and my therapist told me, ‘Your body’s going through withdrawal from love. You used to have this exchange of happy chemicals between you and the person that you’re with.’ In moments of my life, I have dropped every ounce of pride that I had just to be like. Love me. Please take the pain away for a day, a second, an hour, just so I can feel that fix again.”
Lili Reinhart clarified through a twitter post:
Just hours after her interview with Refinery29, the quotes from her interview started to circulate on the internet and were reportedly misinterpreted. Reinhart took to Twitter to clarify the confusion and told her fans that the quotes were from her recent interview with Refinery29 about depression and anxiety.
She wrote on Twitter that,
“Quotes taken from my most recent interview are not about a ‘breakup’”
“They are about the depression I’ve felt over these last few months. Tired of people taking my words out of context and piecing together their own story for clickbait.” She tweeted.
The actress also added that “I would never speak so candidly about something as personal as a breakup. That’s incredibly private. I was addressing my depression.”
Lili also mentioned twitter and social media being a vile place back in May in a string of now-deleted tweets in which the actress wrote, “I refuse to keep my mouth shut about things like this. You have no idea how destructive this can be to someone. To anyone. It’s abusive. There is no excuse for this. You need god in your life or some form of help if you can participate in cancel culture.’
Lili recently opened up about being bisexual as well:
Earlier this month, The Riverdale actress opened up about her sexuality by saying that,
“I knew full well that I was attracted to women from a young age. I felt that since I’ve exclusively been in hetero-normative relationships, it would be too easy for any outsider, especially the media, to vilify me and accuse me of faking it to get attention.”
Lili also revealed that it is no surprise for the people who have known her for a long time. She told, “That’s not something I wanted to deal with. But to my close friends, and those in my life, my bisexuality has been no secret.”
